Freestyle

Park Trips

OUSSC Freestyle run several trips a term to a Snow Dome on Thursdays or Fridays. The freestyle park has progression lines from beginner - intermediate on the Main Slope which change every week (up to date Park plans). You don't need any freestyle experience and it is quite relaxed. For those wanting to get some gym sessions in OUSSC will be running spinning and circuits sessions at the Iffley Road Sport Centre during term time.

New this season OUSSC is running a trip to Snowworld, Landgraaf over the summer vacation. The largest indoor snow centre in the world is served by a six man chair lift, with a mega park featuring boxes, rails and a range of kickers from 2.5-10 m (there's even a gondola rail!). Check out the trips page for more info.

Competitions

Our main event is the varsity match against Cambridge which takes place on Varsity Trip during the Christmas Vacation, a rail park and jumps are set up in the thick of the the après scene for the slopestyle competition. The British University snowsports Championships (BUCS) occurs over the Easter vacation and has excellent freestyle competitions ranging from a rail jam, boarder/skier X and big air events. During term time indoor/dryslope events such as BUiSC and BUDS attract some of the UK's keenest park rats. They are a lot of fun even if you are not competing!

Minimum Standards

OUSSC strives to make skiing and snowboarding accessible and to provide opportunity for everyone to discover the incredible world of snow sports. We must however respect the minimum requirements enforced by the snow centres within the UK and ask that by participating in OUSSC trips you are able to:

  • Control Speed & Direction

  • Perform Linked Turns

  • Stop When Required

  • Use a Button Lift Unassisted

Trip booking and social events invites will be sent out via the mailing list.
