OUSSC Racing
OUSSC prides itself in the providing Race training to people of all experiences, both on snow and during the Weekly Dry Slope training sessions. These training sessions are held on Thursday evenings through the term at Welwyn Dry Slope, Gostling Snowsports Park. We receive expert training from some of Britains top Coaches on both personal skiing and course training. We also participate in the King's Races, which take place between October and February. In addition, we arrange a Summer Training Trip to Les Deux Alpes after Trinity term.
The Varsity Trip was founded in 1922 to host the Varsity Races between Oxford and Cambridge. Since then it has grown to become the largest student run ski trip on the planet, with over 2500 people participating each year. Approaching their 90th anniversary in 2012, the races are still a central focus of the trip and the results are eagerly-awaited by members of both universities. Traditianally, the Blues Team is selected the day before the race. It is important to note that anyone is eligible to try out for the varsity races and if you're selected you will be awarded with a half blue. Contact our Race Coordinator for more info: edward.hiorns@trinity.ox.ac.uk
If you have never tried racing before and feel like giving it a try, or would simply like to improve your technique, why not try one of our training sessions. Due to generous sponsorship we're able to subsidise these trips. It only costs £15 for a 2 hour training session. All equipment, tuition and transport is included. The minimum standard is 2 weeks on snow or basic parallel turns.
If you're interested in racing for OUSSC or just want to come to one of our training sessions, send an e-mail to edward.hiorns@trinity.ox.ac.uk
